Publishing a volunteer progressive newspaper is not always a barrel of monkeys. Instead, it's challenging and rewarding to operate this paper (more than seven years now) without the typical commercial funding sources of most papers. It takes time and care. To accomplish it, we need volunteers interested in record keeping, computer layout (we are Mac-based), bulkmailing, and other skills. If you have these skills or are interested in learning, we need you! Contact [[email protected]] or [email protected].

Reading about current events and becoming politically involved are great ways to help people become good members of society. For prisoners this is especially important because of their limited--or nonexistent--income, and their lack of connection with life outside prison. That's why the Free Press gives free subscriptions to prisoners. But to afford doing this, we need subscribers/contributors on the outside to help support the paper. So if you're a free man or woman, please become a regular subscriber.
Help out yourself, your friends, and this paper by sending a gift subscription to a special someone. If you are a current or new subscriber, additional gift subscriptions cost just $10 each. See the subscriber form below.
And do not worry: the Free Press will not tranfer or sell your addresses. We hate junkmail too!
Help get the progressive word out! We need you, the person-about-town, to deliver the paper in areas near your residence or work, in neighborhoods you know, or at events you go to. Volunteers outside of Seattle city limits are very welcome. But anywhere is good. Do you know some good distribution points near your residence? Come pick up a stack. Call [[email protected]] or email [email protected]. Allow some days for response.
The Free Press benefit rummage sale in August was a great success. Thanks to Erik, Tracy, Julie, Mike, Roger, two Renees, Mark, Jennifer, Patricia, Ruth, and others.
