A TAP passenger who allegedly assaulted a flight attendant during a flight connecting Porto and Rio de Janeiro on Monday had to be tied up.

Contacted by JN, the TAP did not respond to a request for comment, but said in a statement that air safety was the “primary” priority of the aircraft. “Our crew is trained to perform all necessary and appropriate actions in accordance with applicable procedures, rules and regulations at all times to ensure that all passengers comply with the rules of conduct and safety on board the aircraft,” the statement said. “Crimes committed on a passenger ship are reported to competent authorities, and those who commit them are handed over to the police as soon as they arrive at the destination airport.”
